Why Do They Do That? Understanding Dementia Related Behavior

October 25, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways for people with dementia to communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present real challenges for caregivers to manage. Join us to learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.

Additional Information
In addition to learning about the more common behavioral issues related to dementia, we will dive deeper with an exploration of delirium, delusions in dementia presented by Carmen Goudeau, DNP, MS, BSN, RN. Dr. Goudeau serves as the RN Geriatric Coordinator for the Joint Commission Geriatric Delirium Program at JPS Health Network. She has extensive experience in teaching and nursing and believes nursing is a work of the Heart.
