ANNOUNCING THE WOMAN OF THE MONTH

Fort Worth women are making headlines daily as business owners, entrepreneurs, top management officers, and political leaders. So, here at Fort Worth Woman, we are selecting one of our city’s shining stars each month. These are the movers and shakers you need to know, and we are proud to honor their accomplishments as our WOMEN OF THE MONTH.

Alex Dobin & Jessica Jennings

Co-Owners of POP Fort Worth Balloon Co.

As moms of three kiddos each, we saw a need to spread joy, happiness and color. Birthday parties, graduations, and baby showers were all coming to a screeching halt indoors, but needed a breath of fresh air — literally – in outdoor spaces.

Meet December’s Fort Worth Women! Alex Dobin and Jessica Jennings are a dynamic duo who have brought joy to our city via their creativity and enthusiasm of POP! Fort Worth. Being moms to three children each, these women have created a balloon business that allows them the flexibility to be with their families while also exercising their given talents of entrepreneurship. If or when you have the privilege of meeting these two, you will immediately notice that they bring the party despite the large load they each delicately balance on their shoulders and stuff in to their vehicles.

With six kids between them (ages six and under), they describe their business partnership as a “traveling circus”. Alex’s husband is a doctor and Jessica’s is in medical sales so three out of the four “on call” weekends a month mean they are constantly juggling balloons, installs, their kids’ events, childcare, and overall life while their husbands are at the hospital. Their ability to not only make this all work, but to do it well is a testament to their character and ability to work together. Alex confidently states, “We love the combination of being stay-at-home moms and entrepreneurs. Working from home is a special privilege that allows us to be with our kids and show them hard work – all while watching them play, refereeing disputes, and divvying out all of the snacks!”.

Real. Life. Moms.

Both with backgrounds in education (Alex is a former teacher and Jessica is a former school counselor), this duo loves the chance to get to be creative and make children happy. They further describe their astonishment at their immediate success, “We never dreamed we would create balloons for just as many adult events as we do children’s’ events. It’s obvious, the need for happiness and fun does not have an age limit!”.

Their initial jumping off point of POP! Fort Worth began as our world was in chaos. While the Covid pandemic struck down many of our local businesses and had others scrambling, both Alex and Jessica saw this dire, dark time as a need to not only find, but create light. They further explain their bold leap in to business, “As moms of three kiddos each, we saw a need to spread joy, happiness and color. Birthday parties, graduations, and baby showers were all coming to a screeching halt indoors, but needed a breath of fresh air — literally – in outdoor spaces”. In a time when most answers were “no” Jessica describes, “We thought, “We can do this. We can help people celebrate in a time when celebrations are needed most!”.

And they have yet to stop. People in Fort Worth love the creativity Alex and Jessica bring to a space. Whether your event is a birthday party, baby shower, or overall general celebration, they can either create a custom design for you or use your ideas to create the visual you have in mind. Each of their ballon garlands and installations take on a different feel, shape, and color palette making your purchase individualized to your specific event. Alex and Jessica have created watermelons, spiders, glamorous entries, holiday explosions, and more – all from solely balloons.

When asked what they love about our city these two immediately began to describe their clients and the people here. They explain from the heart, “Balloons have truly opened our eyes to what amazing people reside in Fort Worth. In this business, we have met so many incredible people from all walks of life. The hospitality and graciousness our clients have has blown us away. We are constantly welcome in to homes and event centers with such big smiles and warm greetings, that we end up chatting our way through an install. We have loved getting to know so many Fort Worth residents and have seen the most beautiful spaces we never would have been to without balloons.”

Their success in this city is so bold and it is no wonder their word for the impact of their business is ‘joy’. This duo describes, “As cliché as that may sound, the smallest POP! of color can add so much light to a dark day. By seeing something whimsical and happy, we always hope to spark joy in the eyes of those who are looking.” What is so magical about what these two have created is that their balloons are so eye-catching, you almost have to look – no matter who you are. Jessica and Alex, by being themselves and using their talents, have literally created a chance for a whimsical moment to place joy and even a smile on the heart of every person passing by.

Whether you are young in body or young at heart, take a look at the pictures of past POP! Fort Worth installs. Their purposefulness, creativity, and quality is evident and has them standing out above the crowd without question.

These girls are just a DM way. Instagram is the easiest way to view all of their work. They do check Facebook messages often but do not post there as frequently.
