Linda Roberts

Primate Supervisor –

Overview:

Originally from The Bronx, Linda Roberts made her way to the Fort Worth Zoo as the World of Primates exhibit was opening in 1992. The Fort Worth Zoo offered the perfect opportunity for her to work with not just gorillas, but also orangutans, chimpanzees, and bonobos. She is now the Primate Supervisor.

Although the work of a Zookeeper is 24/7, Linda occasionally finds time off when she can visit surrounding vies and the world. She describes, “I’ve always had wanderlust and visited all the areas around the Metroplex, including all our surrounding zoos.  I must say, I enjoy Fort Worth Zoo the best, but I may be a little biased. Working with animals has increased my need to see them in the wild. So even my leisure time is centered around animals. I have managed to visit each continent at least once and have seen all the apes I have worked with in their natural habitat.  I have been to Antarctica and the Arctic, so I’ve marveled at penguins, and polar bears alike.”

The nationally acclaimed Fort Worth Zoo has been voted the No. 1 Zoo in North America by USA Today, the Best Zoo in Texas by Yahoo Travel, and one of the “World’s Greatest” by Bloomberg TV. Home to nearly 7,000 animals, the Zoo is beginning its final installment of a four-phase master plan. The first phase, African Savanna, opened in 2018; the second phase, Elephant Springs, opened in 2021; the third, Predators of Asia & Africa, opened in June 2023. The fourth and final phase, Forests & Jungles of the World, is next. The institution’s focus on education and conservation is second to none, enhancing the lives of more than 1 million visitors a year.
