Overview:

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.

It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D. Since our founding more than five decades ago, the Foundation has remained at the forefront of research in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD. Today, the Foundation funds cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurture investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finance underdeveloped areas of research. In addition, the Foundation’s professional education workshops and programs, along with scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field. The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is very proud that the National Institutes of Health has commended us for “uniting the research community and strengthening IBD research.”

Beyond research, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is collaborating with healthcare providers to improve IBD quality of care, as well as educating, supporting, and empowering patients and their caregivers through patient centric education and advocacy programs. Chronic, painful, and often life-altering, IBD affects millions of children and adults in the United States. Due to the complicated factors influencing each person’s IBD, the often unpredictable and debilitating course of disease, and resulting physical, emotional, psychosocial, and financial impact, IBD patients and their loved ones have unique concerns and needs. No other Texas based organization serves these needs through groundbreaking programs in research, education, support, advocacy, and awareness – designed to cure IBD and improve the lives of patients.

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is the leading advocate for patients and the hub of the IBD community – which includes patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, volunteers, donors, commercial partners, and other non-profits. The Foundation engages the largest community of IBD patients in the country and maintains collaborations with partners that add value to IBD research or assist in improving patients’ quality of life. The collaborative approach of our mission activities and world-renowned work with the best clinicians and researchers in IBD care are qualifications unique to the Foundation.

The Foundation has earned a reputation for fiscal stability and careful stewardship of donated dollars. The Foundation proudly meets the high standards established by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance and GuideStar, as well as other leading independent charity evaluators. More than 80 cents on every dollar raised goes towards mission, a ratio the Foundation has maintained for the past several years. Based in Dallas, Texas, the Northern Texas/Oklahoma Chapter serves the northern half of Texas including the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, east and west Texas, and the entire state of Oklahoma. The Chapter’s goal is to improve the lives of more than 70,000 North Texans living with these diseases. The Northern Texas/ Oklahoma Chapter aims to serve these patients through a variety of services such as medical research, local support groups, education events, and Camp Oasis (a one-week summer camp designed to accommodate children suffering from Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis).

About Craft

Craft is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, Northern Texas Chapter’s signature craft cocktail competition fundraising event. Join us on Saturday, September 9^th at The Ostreum in Fort Worth, as “Mixologists” from area restaurants and bars convene to compete in a craft cocktail competition where a panel of local celebrity judges will select the “Judges’ Choice Award.” In addition, patrons have the opportunity to choose the “Best Cocktail in Cowtown.” Tiffany Hungerford, Crohn’s disease patient, will share her inspiring story and receive the 2023 Honored Hero Award. Whitney and Todd Creel will also be honored as 2023 Fort Worth Community Champions! Guests will enjoy a silent and live auction, dinner catered by Magdalena’s, live music, a cigar roller and more!
