Meet Kate Jennings, a local Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a child & teen therapist, and is honored to walk alongside your children in their journey to improved mental health. She is also here to help support you on this roller coaster ride of parenting.
Kate attended the University of Texas at Austin where she earned her undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in education. After jumping in the fountain and leaving the burnt orange tower behind, she moved back to Fort Worth where she re-branded herself as a ‘Longhorned Frog’ and went to graduate school at TCU where she earned her Masters of Education in Counseling.
The day after she graduated from grad school Kate was hired at Cook Children’s where she spent the next eleven years gaining the bulk of her therapy experience. Most recently she had the pleasure of being the first clinical therapist to serve the Gastroenterology Clinic where she focused on the brain/gut relationship, and helped patients learn about how their mental health and physical health are intertwined. It was in this role that Kate became passionate about helping children who have been diagnosed with chronic illnesses. Her focus in GI was primarily on patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or “IBD,” but she has experience in helping children with other things such as chronic abdominal pain, Celiac disease, and anxious tummies.
Over ten years later, Kate has ventured out on her own and given her experience, she is guaranteed to be a success. Kate is the momma of a threenager, “Junebug,” and the happiest baby on the block, Wyatt Bee… and therein lies the name of her practice and social media blog, The Bug and Bee.
