So, here at Fort Worth Woman, we are selecting one of our city’s shining stars each month. These are the movers and shakers you need to know, and we are proud to honor their accomplishments as our WOMEN OF THE MONTH.

Marion Snipes

Broker at Virginia Cook, Realtors

I can be anywhere I want as an office but this is home, this is family, these are my friends. I love what I do and I love helping people find their dream home or investment.

Meet December’s Fort Worth Woman! Marion Snipes has basically lived two different lives. Her first life was spent after college in the Air Force with her husband, Conway, and their two children. As her husband was flying B-52’s for 18 years (including 100+ missions over Vietnam) Marion took her position as military wife very seriously. She spent her time raising her children and volunteering as much as possible. After holding every office in the Air Force Officers Wives Club and making such a dramatic impact on the military family lives around her, she was nominated for Military Wife of the Year twice.

For the first 30 years of her marriage, Marion was known as the ‘Colonel’s wife’ but after her husband’s retirement she has since flipped the page and began her next phase of life where he is now known as ‘Marion’s husband’. Marion re-entered the real estate world during their last military assignment in Hawaii and has been working ever since!

She began working for Henry S. Miller where Virginia Cook was President for years and later, when the company sold, Virginia Cook started her own company in Dallas/Fort Worth. Marion hopped on board immediately and believes her job at Virginia Cook is the best secret in town. Marion states, “I can be anywhere I want as an office but this is home, this is family, these are my friends. I love what I do and I love helping people find their dream home or investment.” The biggest testament to her character was a compliment she received after selling a house that stated, “Marion made buying a home as easy as buying groceries.” During her career, Marion helped found the Certified Residential Specialist Board in Tarrant County and has since held every position from Secretary to President. In 1995 She was chosen as the Texas Certified Residential Specialist and even served on the Board of CRS as Regional Vice President with a territory including Florida, Alabama, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

On top of her work success, Marion decided to invest herself in Fort Worth beginning with the Symphony League (where she became President in 2007 and 2008), Symphony Association, Opera Guild, the Opera Association Board (where she held many positions and was later President), with her favorite involvement being with The McCammon Voice Competition (coming to Fort Worth again in 2018!).

Marion also listed other President titles with the Carousel and Farando Dance Clubs, the Bellaire Park Neighborhood Association, and has even been Precinct Chairman and Representative to the Texas State Republican Convention. She was also a founding member of the Women Steering Business for several years. Marion has served for years on the Board of Directors for the Ekklesia Christian School and is committed to staying involved with their progress. Marion has been beyond busy placing her hands on our community.

Currently Marion is spending a majority of her spare time with The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth. She feels that this club “is the best kept secret in town for anyone who likes to learn, laugh, play, and of course, eat.” Starting in 1923 through today the Woman’s Club has almost 1,300 members, 58 different clubs, and was just awarded a Historical Marker. Just within The Women’s Club, Marion has been President of three of the smaller clubs, held almost every Committee Chairmanship, and has served on the Board of Directors several times including Vice-President and currently Corresponding Secretary.

Marion is active in her career, our community, and has devoted her life to impacting the lives of others. Her presence, confidence, and experience make a difference! Marion’s word for her impact as a businesswoman and volunteer on our city is grateful which is a humbling description for a woman who gives so much.

Marion loves that Fort Worth is one of the most unique and vibrant cities in the country. Having spent much time living in Hawaii, Marion believes that Fort Worth is truly the envy of many cities around the United States. “We are alive and absolutely the most beautiful city at night anywhere. Fort Worth, I Love You.”
