Dr. Barbara Sorrels and her daughter Krista Macias both have a passion for children. This past fall the two of them decided to launch a podcast called Nurturing the Heart of a Child together. The podcast shares information on how understanding early childhood helps you parent better. Dr. Barbara Sorrels has over 40 years of experience in working with children. She has been a university professor, classroom teacher, children’s minister, and teacher trainer- not to mention a fabulous mom to two daughters . Dr. Barbara Sorrels is the award winning author of Reaching and Teaching Children of Trauma and currently runs a non profit and therapeutic preschool that helps children of trauma.

Krista Macias lives in Fort Worth with her husband and two children ages 3 and 5. She graduated from TCU with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Krista taught for several years before staying home with her two children. She currently teaches a story time at The Happy Lark and is the children’s minister at a new church plant called Riverpoint Church in Fort Worth.
